About this privacy information

Smash Social is operated as a social badminton service in Victoria, Australia. We aim to handle personal information transparently and only collect information reasonably needed to operate events and member features.

Information we collect

Depending on how you use Smash Social, we may collect your name, email address, mobile number, profile details, badminton level, profile photo, public-profile preference, bookings, additional-player names, attendance, cancellations, refund status, referral activity, loyalty points, rewards and messages or enquiries you send us.

For online payments, Stripe processes your card details. Smash Social stores payment references and payment status but does not store your full card number or card security code.

How and why we use information

We usually collect information directly from you when you book an event, create or claim a member account, update your profile, join a waitlist, check in, cancel a booking, use a referral link or contact the organiser.

We use personal information to operate events, reserve player spots, process and reconcile payments, manage cancellations and manual refunds, maintain waitlists, communicate confirmations and reminders, record attendance, provide member profiles, calculate rewards and referrals, prevent duplicate or fraudulent bookings, support players and improve the service.

Public information

If you enable a public member profile, limited information may be visible to other users. Public leaderboards use shortened names. We do not intentionally display your email address, mobile number or payment information publicly.

Service providers

We use third-party services to operate Smash Social, including Supabase for database, authentication and backend services; Stripe for payments; Google where you choose Google sign-in; the website hosting provider; and Resend for transactional booking emails when email delivery is enabled.

These providers process information under their own privacy and security terms and may process or store information in Australia or other countries depending on their infrastructure.

Communications, security and retention

We may send operational messages related to bookings or accounts, including confirmations, waitlist offers, reminders, cancellation information and refund updates.

We use access controls, encrypted HTTPS connections and managed service providers to protect information. We retain information for as long as reasonably needed to operate the service, maintain booking and financial records, resolve disputes, prevent abuse and meet applicable legal or accounting requirements.

Access, correction and questions

You can update many member details from your profile. You may also ask to access or correct personal information we hold about you. We may need to verify your identity first.
